Happy Father's Day to all the dad's out there. I hope that everyone had a wonderful day and celebrated the special men in our lives.

Katie, Joey and I tried our best to make sure Jerry had a great weekend. It started out with dinner at home on Saturday night, and then a day at my Dad's house and dinner with the whole family.

Both nights I have the joy of cooking, but at least it allowed me a bit of baby free time. Chicken cutlets on Saturday, and Sheppards Pie on Sunday. I don't wanna brag, but it was good stuff!!

We had another out-of-town family visitor this weekend too! My sister Suzie flew down from Sacramento to meet our newest little Cagg. She bought him an awesome play-mat and he already loves it. It matches his little swing perfectly. He is already showing interest in it and was swatting at the polar bear before he decided to take a nap.

Rachel also bought him an adorable outfit with little bear feet, but unfortunately he made a mess all over it before I could take a picture, so it will have to wait until after we wash clothes!!

Thank you to all my family for showering the little man & Katie with all the goodies and help. We love you all.

Bragging time!! My super smart daughter had an awards assembly last Friday. Joey, Grandma Toni, Grandpa Jon & Myself all went down to Westview to cheer on our kiddo.

She won a trophy for 35 weeks as Super Citizen, (That is the highest you can get, and means she achieved the status in her class all year long), a blue ribbon for 5 week perfect attendance (if she hadn't gotten sick for 3 days in the beginning of the school year, she would have had perfect all year long), and a Certificate for Academic Excellence (only one child in each class received this award).

Of course we were proud of all of the work she has done during the school year, but for her to walk away with the academic award made me a extremely proud Momma. According to her teacher Katie was chosen because she received 100% on all her spelling tests (thanks to Jer making her write her words on a daily basis), is reading at an end of 2nd grade level (remember she is only in first grade), and has gotten 90% or higher on all her math quizzes.

Of course for all this extra hard work you need a reward, and what did she get? A new lightsaber. Jerry has corrupted my little daughter. Everyone give Katie three cheers, because she deserves it!!

They say that part of motherhood is you forget the bad parts of caring for an infant so that you are willing to do it again and have more kids. I don't remember Katie being this big of a little pain at night.

Joey decided last night that he would be a little terror and keep his Momma awake for most of the night and then be bright eyed and wanna play at 6:30am this morning. As a result, the dark circles under my eyes are getting bigger and my energy level is getting smaller.

We have two doctors appointments today. Joey is going in for his hearing evaluation, and I have my 2 week checkup. Hopefully everything will be uneventful and smooth. We will also be discussing getting his little peepers snipped. Poor little man, but it has to be done. Right now Joey is relaxing and sleeping in his swing (of course, since he knows I can't lay down, because we have to leave in 15 minutes).

This week has been full of fun and learning how to adapt since I have been flying solo for the majority of the day. Showering has now become a nighttime ritual since Bubba won't let me during the day. I have also mastered the 5 minute diaper, clothes, and blanket change. The little man took a bath again yesterday, and he didn't cry at all. He just sat in his tub cooing and slapping at the water. The end result, both of us were soaked (as was most of the kitchen counter), but he was clean and smelling good again.

We had visitors yesterday again. Grandma Toni and Uncle Paul came to visit (Uncle Paul is in town all the way from Kansas!!). Everyone is welcome to come and visit us, just call ahead to make sure we are not sleeping!

The school year is getting close to the end and that means Westview Elementary had its annual carnival today. Katie has been pestering us all week about going to it, and we were not sure if we were going to be able to go. Jerry and I decided today that you only get to be a kid once and twenty bucks is worth it to see the smile on our kiddo's face.

She had a blast and came home with a bag full of prizes and a belly full of cotton candy, hot dogs and juice. We broke out the stroller for the first time today for the carnival, which allowed Katie to show off her little brother to all her teachers and friends. She was a proud sister as everyone ooohh'd and awe'd over little Joey. Of course he slept the entire time and being outside didn't even faze him.

Our little Katie is getting so grown up and I can't believe that she will be leaving first grade and moving on to second in less than a month. They had a giant blow up slide and she was much braver this year than last, as she was jumping half way down the slide instead of just sitting and scooting. Her and her friends had a blast and I am happy we decided to attend.

Now both Katie and Joey are in bed sleeping and dreaming about happy things. Check out this picture I snapped last night as he was sleeping and having some crazy dreams. His face was all smiles and he kept cooing in his sleep. I am not sure what an eight day old dreams about, but he was enjoying it.

The weekend is coming and it should be a fun one. Katie is getting her hair trimmed tomorrow (two inches she tells us), and then on Sunday she is going out with Aunt Rachel to dinner and to see the movie UP. She is very excited. Jerry and I plan on catching up on some sleep since he returns to work on Tuesday and that means I have to manage the house and Joey by myself. I think all will be fine.

Little Joey had his first doctor's appointment today. He is a healthy 1 week old. He screamed and cried and gave Dr. Phillips the hardest time when he tried to examine him. That's our Bubba.

It has been a wonderful week with my new son and I have found myself staring at him while he is sleeping. He makes the cutest little faces and every once in a while you can glimpse a smile. Jerry has been a great help and I am going to miss having him around next week, as he is returning to work on Tuesday.

Jerry has said that I am like an old pro with Joey and I have gotten very quick at changing diapers again, and with a little boy that is a good thing. The little fire hose has attempted to get me several times, but so far no soakings.

I don't remember the 4 am feedings being quite so tiresome with Katie however, and I hope he grows more tolerate and cooperative in the coming weeks, as it is kicking my butt!! At least I have learned that I can calm him down with a quick bottle to eat, a clean diaper change, and then cuddle time with the momma. He always wants to cuddle with us in our bed, but I am not letting him pick up that bad habit. He can snuggle for a bit, but then it is back to his bassinet (which is conveniently located right next to the bed.. lol).

We received our newborn hospital pictures today in the mail (one of which is the picture for this post). This is our little Joseph when he was less than 24 hours old. Isn't he just the cutest!! Be expecting birth notices with pics soon!!

Overall the Caggiano's are doing great, and loving this first week as a family of four.

It has been a pretty boring uneventful day here in the land of Caggiano. Katie was off to school bright and early and should be arriving back home soon. Jerry once again has the day off to spend helping me out around here and little Joey alternates between eating, sleeping and fussing.

In our downtime Jerry and I enjoyed a fun game of Mario Party on the Wii. Bubba is currently resting on his pillow that Grandma Toni bought him, but should be waking up hungry anytime now.

We might have another visitor later today as Auntie Cassarellie might be stopping by to meet the new addition. And Jerry is planning on cooking us another awesome dinner. Other than that, not much else is happening today.

The Family

The Caggiano's are proud to announce the arrival of Joseph Jon Caggiano. Born 05/28/2009 at 2:38pm. 7 pound 8 ounces and 19 inches long.

After Katie was born I never thought Jerry and I would have any more kids and when we found out I was pregnant again, I can honestly say it was a shock. But now that Little Joey is here I can't imagine living without him. He is only 4 days old and already has become such a wonderful addition to our little family.


Katie has been such a proud big sister and a wonderful helper to her new little brother and today when she came home from school she went straight to him and covered his little face with kisses. I know she is going to be a great part of his life, and I am so glad that Joey is here to add that richness to her life that only a sibling can provide.





As I am sure you can imagine Jerry is a very proud daddy to his new son, and is being the greatest husband in the world. We are lucky that he has a very understanding and awesome boss who has allowed him to take this week off to help me recover and to help transition into being parents to an infant again. After 7 years there are a lot of things that you have to relearn. But again practice will make perfect, give us a few weeks and it will be all old habits again.



As for myself, I am doing great. Everyone seems amazed at how quickly I bounced back considering I was in labor for almost 48 hours. I guess I just have my son's adorable face to inspire me to get up and get moving. I am planning on enjoying and making the most of the little bit of time I have to be a stay-at-home Mommy again, and I know that too soon I will be having to return to work.

Overall the Caggiano's are doing awesome and are happy and proud to now be a family of four.
